Analysis

ORCA researchers are skilled in conducting complex data analyses for evaluation and policy research in different areas, such as economic studies, health system evaluations, population enumerations, and audience measurement studies. ORCA develops high quality reports that present methods and results and discuss important policy implications. ORCA often collaborates with clients to develop materials that translate research results into meaningful messages for the full spectrum of stakeholders.
The collected data is exported into a CSV or XLS file, and then further imported into statistical analysis software such as Stata, SAS, or SPSS for processing, management, and analysis.
Trained and experienced qualitative staff analyze qualitative data emerging from IDIs and FGDs. Transcripts are entered into a qualitative data analysis software to conduct inductive and deductive coding of data. Codes are applied iteratively; with transcripts reviewed multiple times as new codes emerge. A summary of common themes are reported, and a conceptual framework is drafted. One transcript is coded by two analysts first, discrepancies discussed, and codes confirmed before coding is done individually. A supervisor reviews each of the coded transcripts to discuss and resolve any discrepancies identified with how the codes were applied.

The range of ORCA’s analytical capabilities includes:

  • Program Evaluation
  • Performance Measures
  • Quantitative Data Analysis
  • Policy Analysis
  • Experiments
  • Economic Analysis
